This reminds me of a time when I was playing GothamChess. He was winning but then I remembered "Danger Levels" and I said to him "Do you know what's worth more than a king? You! You're worth more than a king!" Then I pulled out a gun and he resigned.
More seriously. I think this is too messy. There is an existing variant called Secret Square that's pretty similar and I would argue is an improved version. Basically at the start of the game each side secretly chooses a square (write it on a piece of paper) to put a land mine and then whenever a piece steps on it they say "secret square!" and show the paper and the piece is immediately captured, even if it's the king! After the square is revealed the player secretly chooses another one.

@rbhoopathi04 I heard about secret queen and it is a lot of fun indeed, lots of very fun tactics. Gun chess is a bit different cos the gun drops and can be picked up again by another piece, and also it strikes from afar
there are a few small rules that take a few times to get to know (like pawns = 1 shot, wounded knights moving like kings, and 1 turn to reload) but yeah it's pretty intuitive after that :)

@rdouglascanada yeah on a board it would be messy ngl, but on the website it's pretty easy to play.
There are lots of fun tactics involved
