Puzzle racer, how can people be so fast?

Been doing puzzle racer, normally score in the 30s im rated about 2100. I see others scoring about 70 with the same rating, like how? Am I really slow or is it just players who are really fast that go in for it?

I don't think it's that difficult to improve your puzzle racer score if you focus on two things:

  1. Pattern recognition. I'd say around 95% of the puzzle racer tactics you see at the start of each race are very basic themes: discovered attack, fork, pin, back rank mate, smothered mate, etc. If you play puzzle racer enough, you'll learn to spot these tactics so quickly that you won't even have to see the entire position to spot them.

  2. Input speed. You're trying to solve as many puzzles as possible, so making moves fast is important. Getting good at quick moves with your input device (whatever it may be) will definitely improve your puzzle racer score.

They probably have done a lot more of them than you.

I randomly played a few runs and I faced a 1750 dude with 11,599 runs who did 67 while I did 27 (even if I usually do more).

So yeah probably normal.

My tips on puzzle racing:
1.) Be fast is probably very important. You only get 1 minute and 30 seconds during 1 race
2.) Solve countless tactics for pattern recognition - VERY important
3.) Try to not get so many wrong. The more you get right in a row, the more bonus points you'll get
4.) Use the skip wisely - if you 1000% don't know the answer
5.) HAVE FUN! This is not a competition, so your own pace is good ;)
