Puzzles

I haven't played chess for many years and I'm trying to get back into it. Playing the puzzles, I noticed I miss a lot of what I used to be good at. I don't see entire board like I used to either. But something have noticed and I'm not sure if it's just me, but the puzzles seem to be heavy on trading queens. It's like the engine thinks a queen for queen trade is somehow more tactical than anything else.

What do some of you think about this approach?

i think its just a shorter route to victory where both circumstances would theoretically be a draw

105 win, 107 lose.
113 win, 133 lose.
This is not your training. This is a casino. You go at random and guess 50%.
Start thinking for real. If the computer trades queens, then it really is the best move. Make sure the other moves are worse. If you see two correct moves, it's an illusion. In fact, there is only one correct move, find and prove which move is wrong and why.
Only in this case will puzzles be useful. Show here a problem that you cannot solve. (don't press the hint!!!)

If one is staying the same puzzle rating, they will get 50% wrong, assuming playing puzzles of the same rating.

but it's definitely possible to not binge puzzles so much

Some endgame just start like: opp offered trade of queens or rooks, do the trade and win the pawn endgame. It just lengthens the actual puzzle by one move.

But the VAST majority of puzzles is still about candidate moves.

I'm begging to wonder if the system is looking for the exact moves that were made by the players in the puzzles related to the matches that puzzles represent. Almost like "guess the move that was made". I could be wrong though...

A major part of my problem is due to me having tunnel vision, queuing in on a target. Another problem is I try to rush to make a move. This is causing me to not see the board in it's entirety, which in turns results in misses, mistakes and blunders. It's something I'm working on, or trying to at least. This is one of the reasons I play so many puzzles.

I'm not concerned with @Tictactotastic's comments. They are misguided and irrelevant. What's also irrelevant is the wins/loses, because they are puzzles only and not against other players. More than a decade of not playing and at 60 trying to pick it up again comes with it's own challenges. And judging by his/her comments, he/she is not a coach, but more of an antagonist. It's not the way to help other players..

No, puzzles are created in positions where there is only 1 good move in a position, and this move is often not found in the game. Just slow down and think about the ensuing possibilities after each candidate move.
