Fischer did play a secret training match against Gligoric years later to warm up for the 1992 rematch with Spassky.
Gligoric was literally a father-figure to Fischer. When the 15 year old arrived in Yugoslavia to play in the Interzonal, he was too young to be unaccompanied by an adult. Gligoric was appointed as his official guardian and they stayed good friends throughout Fischer's life.
