Its a B movie from the 80s.
Is Gukesh higher rated than the world champion he defeated?
No, Ding is currently higher rated.
Is Gukesh higher rated than his team against Ding?
No, Keymer and Duda are higher rated.
Is Gukesh top of the junior list?
No, he's been overtaken by Erdogmus.
Is Gukesh the top in his country?
No, Praggnanandhaa, Erigaisi, Anand and Sarin are higher rated.
As world champion, Botvinnik liked to say he was 'first among equals'. Gukesh cannot make that claim.

If Gukesh finds his peak form and Sindarov doesn't suddenly forget how to play chess, I'd say 7.5-6.5 in favour of Sindarov.

Fischer : "there are nice guys and there are tough players"
Gukesh has proved himself to be a "nice guy" whilst Sindarov appears to be a tough player
Therefore : (drum roll)
Sindarov will blow Gukesh away since he usually beats 2600 players and Gukesh is likely to be in the 2600 club before they "tee off"

Sindarov crushed the candidates, shown to be in impressive form, I remember, we were following closely. and it has kept it going.
Gukesh, well he barely won it, somehow managed to win the championship match and has gone down massively.
Though he is the Champion and he deserves respect for it, we all know that since Carlsen left, anyone occupying the throne is a placeholder champion, though Sindarov will do a better job at it than Liren or Gukesh for sure.

Gukesh isn't the first player to underperform after becoming champion, and it really seems like he feels a lot of pressure every time he plays now. I hope he can recover mentally (maybe hire a psychology trainer) before the match or else I fear Sindarov will win it pretty easily.

The throne comes with a toll of being watched by everyone.

We all do hope that, but even if he does, he was never on the level of a champion, its just that things aligned. Though not demeriting the title nor Gukesh, Liren got the title underperforming because Nepo doesnt have cold blood, and Gukesh barely won against a struggling Ding. All of the bunch are a couple of leagues below Carlsen.
I dont know if Sindarov is on the same tier as Carlsen, but he clearly is higher than Gukesh at his best.
I doubted Sindarov would win the candidates, but I stood corrected with an amazing display of talent, now I doubt he will lose after I saw that. Hope Gukesh gets his form back, nobody would like to see him burn and crash in an embarrassing one sided match, but he wont win regardless. We all want a good and entertaining match.

With the World Championship coming up, who do you think will win and why?
Of course, Sindarov... Gukesh is suffering a downfall.

Sindarov.
His willingness to take risks together with his flair for the provocative will overwhelm Gukesh.
