Taimanov - more flexible
Four Knights - higher theory
Taimanov - positional
Four knights - more tactical
Taimanov - prone to transpositions to the Kan, Scheveningen;
Four Knights - can transition into Sveshnikov type games
I play around with the Taimanov and I like it.

For your level, I'd recommend the Taimanov. It's flexible, simple, and doesn't take that long to learn.
For other variations, I'd probably recommend the French Variation, since it's easy to learn.
The Four Knights variation is still good though.
