Teams/Leagues

I’m curious to hear from forum posters.

  1. What are the benefits/advantages of joining teams or leagues?
  2. What are some of the drawbacks/disadvantages joining teams or leagues?

I’d appreciate your feedback. No, I’m not currently looking to join, just curious.

  1. If you join a team, you can play in many leagues like LMAO Teamfights or Bundesliga. And you'll have many friends.
  2. If you join a toxic team, they can make fun of you.

@Kaan_Burak
Thank you for the reply. I’m not into making lots of friends however, just like to play good competitive (for my level) games with good people minus online drama. What does the team environment provide that just picking up games in the “lobby” does not?

Let me tell.
If you play with your team friend, you can analyse it if you agree with him. But lobby players usually play the game and just go to another game.

  1. What are the benefits/advantages of joining teams or leagues?
  • Playing team battle or inner team tournaments
  • discussing of common interests with others members

In my opinion, the most frustrating thing it's to join a team and not participating anywhere, because the team is not very active or because the player who joined doesn't participate in tournaments or forum and just joined the team because someone recommended or something like that.

I find team-based play more entertaining; you can encounter players who are much stronger than you, and it teaches you to respect team strategies — like in the Bullet League 1, for instance. Also, many special events are team-based; the Streamer Arena took place recently, for example, and that was a team event.

I've actually organized my own special team event with a concept that I haven't seen used on Lichess before. I think being able to create and organize events like this is another thing that makes teams interesting and fun.

Why is simul visibility restricted for non-titled players?
Hey everyone, I noticed that unless you are a titled player (GM/IM/FM/CM), your upcoming simuls don't show up on the main Lichess Simul Hub page until the first move is made. By then, it's too late for anyone to join! While I understand this prevents spam and abandoned simuls, it makes it incredibly difficult for lower-rated players to host fun, casual simuls with the community. What are your thoughts on how Lichess handles simul visibility? Do you think there should be a separate "casual/open" tab for everyone else, or is the current system necessary?
