Not really. See the FAQ: lichess.org/faq#correspondence
You're not allowed to use book in regular chess. or databases. Not to mention using engine to guide your decision making which is undetectable.

On Lichess, the main difference in rules for correspondence chess is that an opening book is allowed. The use of engines is still prohibited and will result in being flagged for engine assistance. Although ICCF allows engine use in correspondence, Lichess does not. From “lichess.”

And as far as correspondence goes, people can use data bases, opening book, etc. And also I don't believe there's a leader board because it's impossible to use cheat detection. People would argue they spent 7 days on that move. You don't seem to know what you're talking about but don't seem shy about giving your opinion. I guess that's reflected in your name.

Isn’t that most people in the forum tho @Amanda_Nunes

I would say that a lot of the people who argue know that they are wrong but do it anyway. I get the troll thing. Or they are children, and another possibility is that they are drunk and or high. I don't think there's too many stupid people hanging around a chess site. If you're talking about Tik Tok or Twitter I would presume stupidity and or lack of education as my first guess.
When someone makes a factual statement and then a bunch of people tell you an incorrect reason why you are wrong, when your intention was to share common knowledge, one feels a sense of secondhand embarrassment for them since they could simply fact check the statement with the search engine before posting.

It's better you play unlimited than to play 180+180. 90+30 or 100+30 is the time control in classical OTB chess tournaments. The highest time control I've ever seen in an OTB tournament was a 120+30 time control, which had tremendously long games. 180+180 game is almost equivalent to a unlimited game, as already after players literally blitz out the first 10 opening moves, they've gained 30 mins on the clock, as every moves gains 3 mins. Then we already have a 210+180 game. A person can never run out of time in this time control. You can play 5+180 or 10+180 and that will be almost like a classical OTB game. 180+180 is just nonsense.

The main reason I would choose this over say for example, Correspondence, is that if my opponent falls asleep, they run out of time. In correspondence chess you have at least 24 hours for one move, plus people are legally allowed to cheat. In 180 180 it is still bound by the rules, but as long as you don't fall asleep you will not run out of time. The only reason why I don't do it is because people will actually let the clock run out just to troll you, so that's the drawback. But if you open multiple tabs and play a handful of games all at once, starting in the morning, you can have a bunch of good long games to play for hours. And you can watch you tube or whatever while you wait. You get a popup notification when it's your turn. If you play five games at once it works out pretty well. The rating should be your bullet rating plus 3-400. This is based upon a statistical rating analysis. So if your 1800 bullet you should expect about 2100-2200 classical. (on lichess, not OTB) Lichess ratings are overinflated by 300 points compared to OTB.

Wtf?? It doesn't even make any sense. If you play 180+180 on lichess, your ratings will be even more inflated than in standard lichess time controls, as the player pool will be much, much lesser. Additionally, it's the same rating system lol. Lichess uses Glicko-2 and FIDE uses Elo, so it's already clear that ratings will be different.

If you read the first comments, it's so your opponent has to move and cannot just fall asleep. Unlimited time means that they never have to move and will never lose. So why would I rather play a time control when my opponent may only move once every few days? That gets back into the realm of correspondence which has already stated, allows open book. I would say if you don't mind playing a cheater then play correspondence. And if you don't mind waiting infinitely for a move, then play unlimited. But to me that's nonsense as you phrased it.

@Amanda_Nunes Who has time for a 180+180 game? If you wanna play, then join a Tournament instead.

If you read my post, that I already made, I stated that you can start a bunch of games in the morning, in multiple tabs, and play them all day long, while you also open a tab to play bullet, or music or you tube. It's as if you didn't read the thread before commenting.
