Maybe I'm just misremembering what it is, but how is it similar?
It's basically exactly the same as normal chess, except getting your king into the central squares wins immediately.
This variant can practise your control over the centre for standard chess.
Hope that clarifies it! :)

Oh yeah, it is decent center control practice now that I think about it. Thanks!

Well, if it's such a carbon copy, why isn't 'koth' drawing in all of the hotshots these days, eh? AFAIK, mentioning of Koth at a Freestyle event? Never happened. Not even a whisper, as I recall.

Check the koth lb and check the anti lb
You will clearly see the amount of strong standard chess players in both, showing the similarity of strategy in standard and koth.
A variant which is similar to standard necessarily need not be popular and "drawing the hotshots"
Anti is the 3rd most popular variant after zh and 960 (based on weekly/monthly players) and no way it is similar to standard

i dont know why some people tend to claim playing variants can help your chess but usually when we try to be good at some thing, we dont learn something close to it, we just learn itself

es ist wie bei den Sprachen. wer andere Sprachen erlernt, verbessert und bereichert dadurch seine eigene Muttersprache, sowohl beim Sprechen als auch beim Verständnis derselben.
It's like languages: those who learn other languages improve and enrich their own native language - both in speaking and understanding it.

When learning, explanations should be offered in more than one way. Chess variants, handicapping a position, or learning patterns provide alternative metaphorical approaches to mastering the full chess game. Eat your soup, don't drink it. Use a spoon. The core principle for learning and enjoying chess is the same. Time limitations should only be introduced last, once you have mastered the method.

what are basics of atomic chess?

@Gautham_A Well, no question, chess needs a shot in the arm by '25, no cap. With regard to 960? I'm not so sure it really rocks the boat enough, if you catch my drift. Even, grandmasters, have said it themselves, Chess960, you see, is still the good ol' chess, but without all that extra theory bogging you down.
Chess324, now that's a nifty idea that could really take off if folks gave it a fair shake, ya know?
