Weirdest opening as white

Suggest weirdest openings you have ever seen.
I Prefer suggesting openings which we can use to troll someone :xD (but not get trolled ourselves)

As white you can play 19 out of the 20 legal moves.
Even 1 g4? is playable in practice.

f4 f5 d4 d5 is the double duck formation, just a double stonewall with a silly name

1.f4 is the king of troll openings

"best guess being 1. f3 ?"

  • 1 f3 is fine, but 1 g4? is not.

  • If the Dutch Defense 1 d4 f5 is OK for black , then 1 f4 is fine for white.

Anti-theory chess: You more your knight out and after black plays a move, you put your knight back where it started. You can then play any pawn structure that harmonizes with what the opponent has done in two moves. With that type of play you are two tempos behind. What ever they memorized no longer works and you are both playing in uncharted territory.

  1. Nf3 Nf6 2. Ng1 c4 ... Top 4 candidate moves at depth 31 are -0.8 cp. Have fun proving that you memorized this theory.

Another solution is playing moves by legal moves, but you will need a python script to tell you how many legal moves your opponent has if you play a particular move. You play the move that leaves the opponent with the least amount of legal moves. With that, you might discover why 1. h4 is played.

1.d3 2.Qd2 3.Qg5 or the delayed one: 1.c3 2.d3 3.Qd2 4.Qg5 scores very acceptable in online chess.

The less risky 1.c3 2.d3 3.Qb3 also scored fine for some unknown reason.
