I never really played chess before. I always thought it seemed pretty boring, if I'm honest. But lately I've been having a lot of fun playing it, way more than I expected. That said, I'm definitely not the most talented, and I really struggle to stay focused on the whole board during games, especially when I'm missing caffeine, usually blundering some pieces because of it. Most of the time, I get focused on an active part of the board and totally forget about some pieces that could've really come in use or pieces that I've left unprotected. Any tips you'd find useful for beginners?

"I'm definitely not the most talented"
- Talent does not exist, it is only hard work.
"blundering some pieces"
- Always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it.

Maybe, beggin at the beggining. Anybody know when the next beggining is scheduled?

I think it's good idea to narrow down your focus when you are asking questions.
I mean you are asking useful tips for the beginners and there are zillions answers and you probably know most of them.
You are not getting much from your question. The question is more important than the answer, the question is the answer itself.
Question determines where goes your focus, energy, effort. So train yourself to ask better questions, narrow down focus.

Don't look at WHERE your opponent's piece is. Watch where she GOES next.
Think one move ahead.

Premove feature - I hate it!! I am a beginner here. I had been playing on chess.com and switched over to try Lichess. I really like the speed of play here. There are no delays or freezes as there are on the other site which is very clunky. Something I have never seen before though is the premove function where no time comes off the clock. A player losing on time uses rapid fire premoves and no time comes off the clock. It's awful. Is there a format where that is feature eliminated? Lost 3 games tonight because of it then I realized it happens all game. That really is a dealbreaker for me when playing chess so I hope I can play on Lichess without it.
