What chess habit improved your game more than you expected?

watching YouTube videos instead of playing

Is that a joke?

No, I'm serious. Watching YouTube videos about chess (pedagogic videos) has actually make me improve, even if I gained like 0.00000001 % of my actual level it's still more than expected

Easy Question.

Pawn Structures.

Pawns are the soul of Chess, for a reason.

you cannot actuate a good plan without understanding pawn structures. The assumption here is that you are competent in tactics aned are not still dropping pieces like a child. But, pawn structure understanding will give you the biggest bang for your buck. Understanding pawn structures as it relates to your opening repertoire is the golden ticket to improved middlegame and endgame play. No question.

All major strategic concepts revolve around pawn structures.

You are welcome.

Following the game you are playing... That sounds simple.. and it is.. I encourage everyone to try it! FOLLOW the game. Play the moves the board demands. It will take you to a level you are happy with.
