I decided to learn karpov var beacuse of funni middlegame transitions and its almost theory free, but most of my opponents just play kf3 after kbd7 and it leads to some uncomfortable positions where i have to wait for them to castle
what r ur ideas on this

4... Nd7 5 Nf3 Ngf6 and black is happy. They achieved the opening's idea of playing Nf6 and recapturing with a knight while white avoided the critical lines with Bc4 or Ng5. Develop sensibly, castle, aim for b6,c5.

Most popular for black is now 4...Nf6, but 4...Bf5 or 4...Nd7 are OK too.
Most popular for white is now 3 e5, but 3 Nc3, 3 Nd2, 3 exd5 are OK too.

Just make sure you don't get mated in the Karpov var after 5.Qe2 Ngf6 6.Nd6# :)
