Which country do you think will win the 2026 Open Chess Olympiad?

This years Olympiad will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan! Taking place between 15-27 September.

India won both sections at the Budapest Olympiad, making them one of the favourites for this cycle. Will they manage to win a second time? The U.S., Uzbekistan and China teams are also ones to look out for. The Uzbek team in particular will be looking to win on their home turf! They had previously won in the 2022 Chennai Olympiad (on India's turf). We will also see the reigning World Champion Gukesh D. in action (India), as well as his challenger Javokhir Sindarov! (Uzbekistan).

USA, Uzbekistan and India are the hot favourites. All three have strong teams and all three have won an Olympiad before. The Uzbeks are playing on home ground which is not always an advantage due to fan and media pressure. On the other hand, they have the best team spirit and will be keen to live up to expectations.
