I love FIDE and Atomic
Atomic and 3-Check.
But in my opinion, variants are just for fun.
Ya, chess with a clock is a variant too. The funny part is it decides when the game is over in a totally illogical way.
If any matey says, "Nah Racin' Kings," then I will set sail t' Rickroll 'em!
(@)Kaan_Burak: I thought that chess is also just for fun.
FIDE and racing kings
Definitely Atomic, it actually helps you in your normal standard chess
You should play 960, it helps with pure positional play. Also, Crazyhouse helps with tactics a lot.
If FIDE had announced tomorrow: "We're changing the Queen to move any distance, adding castling, introducing en passant, and implementing time controls all at once," Most would immediately call that a new variant. But because these changes happened gradually over centuries, we treat the changes as an "evolution of the same game" rather than recognizing them for what they are ... cumulative variants that transformed chess into something fundamentally different from what it was. The best variant is the one most people play and since people play online more than OTB, online wins and it's the blitz variant that is in the lead.

The link is the proof, not the OP's tiny narrow list of variants.
(@)Arush_06 and (@)Imotsai: We could sit and list off reasons as to why poker helps us improve in X, Y, and Z areas of football; or, we could just play football. Why do non-chess games have to help with improving in chess?
(@)Toscani: 'The best variant is the one most people play' ~ If you judge something's quality by popularity, then you should start using your brain. Baby Shark has seventeen billion views on YouTube. 'Screenrant is great, because whenever anyone makes the argument that something is popular and therefore it is good, you can show them how much of a fallacy that is by bringing up Screenrant.' --- The YouTuber Jay Exci.
