Sindarov is clearly the favorite.
However, Gukesh has already played and won a World Championship match.
Gukesh may or may not have better seconds to help him.

The classic "Put your money where your mouth is" challenge. Nothing better than a pissing contest to wake up to.

I can tell you that Gukesh is on the verge of becoming an ignored footnote in the history of the WCC if he does not perform up to standards. Personally, he is over-rated as far as WCC's go, and didn't exactly burn through Ding Liren in their match. It came down to 55... Rf2 by Liren to gift it away to Gukesh in their final game. Not impressive, and has the aire of "falling into the Championship".

As for Sindarov, he is the player who has to be considered "in form" between the two. His camp has ignored the recent poor form of Gukesh. Chatter from outside his camp is squashed before it reaches Sindarov. He is taking it seriously and assumes Gukesh will be Gukesh, and in form.

For me, the early match will tell the tale of the tape. If Sindarov can press his style upon Gukesh, it may be a short match. I'm not impressed by Gukesh, however. If Gukesh can settle into the match and not give it away early, his chances increase astronomically.

So, kiddos. Shake it off, put it back in your pants, and enjoy the chess.

Gukesh seems like a nice guy, I'll be rooting for him.
