Why did this happen?

@the-lone-wolf , engines are much stronger than many books these days. Many serious players are reanalysing old traditional book lines with engines and many book moves become suboptimal lines/unplayable these days (e.g King gambit).
There are a few books that are better than engines (e.g Cerebellum library of brainfish) because those books were built by analysis of engines for hours or days in each position. (So they are stronger than the same engine analysis for a few seconds or minute).

In many chess sites in correspondence, you can use the book, not an engine.

@bunyip so you are saying a book is ok?
obviously books are written by people who analysed with an engine....

lololol..books are written by people who can write..your statement is garbage...please report me for saying that.

@bunyip it seems u are having a field day and your intention seems to just lable a titled player as a cheat...to me it's clear that it was a mistake and he was honest about it. Also nothing prevents a player from opening chessbase and using an engine atleast to confirm his move

@bunyip yes he said he is an IM to the site but that is unrelated to him using that as an excuse for his actions.
Also I agree that engines have no place in games, only should be used to analyze.

@kramnikstudent1 "Also nothing prevents a player from opening chessbase and using an engine atleast to confirm his move"

I'm not jumping in on your debate I just want to point out that doing the above statement in game is still cheating .

I laugh when i see so many people trying to defend cheating by saying oh but he does not need to cheat.Obviously he did resort to cheating,by his own admission. So,is cheating ok if you need to do it because you can't win without a computer helping you ?
That was another of his statements in mitigation.

Bunyip is a troll. 6 games in 4 and half years, 1300 posts. Nuff said.

I explained this on page 2 but if readers start from the first page you will see that thibault clearly addressed this matter. I admit shock that these rules are so hard to grasp. I can think of one particular IM that has definitely read this thread and is probably laughing out of his chair.

@Ellis_McPickles. To be fair you should read those 1200 posts before claiming he is a troll.
