Why does my opponent keep leaving at crucial points & coming back? Very distracting and suspicious??

As subject above. Any ideas or anything to dispell my suspicion he is checking a computer for the next move?

Are you winning games when this happens?

Usually after I play a good move that would make you think. Best answer I can give.

More benign explanations are also also possible: for example, that your opponent has a spotty internet connection or a young child who needs attention.

One easy way to check: does the opponent make unusually good moves right after returning to a game?

Turn on zen mode and ignore, play the position on the board.

Ask the person directly and see if they can give you an answer. You might find comfort or truth by the reply or lack of.
Then that light flashes, I tend to look at their ratings and profile and then see the logic in it all and report the person with the logic I have found. You then leave it alone and move on to another game or call it a day, because your mind set will be affecting the next player you play against.

That’s eating your clock. And 90% won’t read it.

This player is possibly cheating.

However, if the situation is:

You move. They leave. 5-6 seconds, they return and move. You move. They leave. 5-6 seconds later, they return and move... in a repetitive cadence... then they are definitely cheating.

Doesn't the game tell you if it is internet causing the disconnect with a symbol in the corner?
