Why I'm so bad at Bullet? :D

Hey,

for a long time I thought it is normal to have a lower elo on bullet than blitz, rapid or classic, but when I check other profiles, I can see that this is not the case.

The last years I played bullet almost exclusivly, but I'm not able to get the elo I have in the other time controls. My internet is fine, I'm focused and don't resign to early.

I usually play on the phone. I tried it on the computer with a mouse and I'm just way to slow!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining! I'm happy I don't get worse in the other time controls even so I barely practise them and actually I got better in them as well. I'm just suprised when others actually do much better in bullet than in other time controls, even so they play bullet just every now and then.

"Bullet k#lls Ideas so." this is a pretty bold statement and maybe a little bit to simple :)

I agree that other time control formats are better for chess development. On the other side I also think that there are things in bullet chess which you learn better than in other formats!

The first thing that comes into my mind is that you develop the skill to counterattack. King safety and exposing the opponents king is such a good strategy in bullet games. So even if you down a piece, if you managed to expose the opponents king, you might be in a equal position because it takes the opponent more time to defend your attack. After playing many bullet matches I recognized that I have "better ideas" of aggressive moves!

The nice thing is that you can try things. You might call it "hope chess", but also this framing is it too negatively in my opinion. You come with a good move and play it. In bullet you will get a really fast feedback, either by the opponent or by the analysis after the game. This is in general a very important aspect of learning, to get an immediate feedback.
