Why is cheating in chess wrong?

Chess is like math, there's always better people in every branches like attacking, defending, tactical, positional etc.

Well cheating is VERY wrong:

You (or the opponent) give themselves an unfair advantage which in terms is called "cheating"

Cheating is absolutely fine, you just have to sign up to the following Creed -

  1. You are an idiot at chess with no hope of improvement and can only win through illegal means.
  2. Winning is your only goal in chess and you will do whatever it takes to win.
  3. Your opponents feelings do not matter, they deserve to lose.

This conversation is completely boring and also only makes things worse.
Why not go play some chess instead of posting in the forums?

If you're not going to play the game yourself, there's zero point in showing up to it. Cheating at Chess is no different from cheating at Uno.

Me and my opponent who's cheating are in this together.

Note: I am not calling someone cheater.

You just said that your opponent was cheating and implied that you were as well.

Anyway, I guess if you and your opponent both know that you are cheating there's nothing morally wrong with it as long as no one else is affected, but I have no idea why you would want to do that. You're also not allowed to do it on Lichess, even if you both know you are cheating.

If I really stretch my imagination (long past the breaking point), I could very generously interpret what you are saying as you and your opponent are using an engine to analyze in a study, which would be fine.

Cheating is wrong, full stop.

All forms. All includes chess, obviously.

If we have to explain why cheating is wrong, then this discussion has no point as we are living on different moral planes.

Cheating is wrong for two reasons

One of harm to others and another of harm to self

Cheating hurts your opponent because you have lied to them and equivocally communicated that for whatever reason their efforts are worthless and unappreciated

Cheating hurts yourself because you are inhibiting growth and also refusing to prove what you can do. Cheating is not allowing yourself to attempt a very feasible feat which is victory

Plus cheating disrespects a very fine and age old game
