A Request to All Admins and LICHESS Moderators - MANAGEMENT

Dear @Cedur216,

You are misrepresenting my words by taking them out of context. If you read the complete text, I am specifically addressing racism, xenophobia, and hate speech not 'all sorts of communications.'

Equating ethnic generalizations like "Russians are this way, Ukrainians are that way" especially when combined with severe hostility to innocent chat is incorrect.

Expecting strict enforcement and serious consequences for hate speech is not an unreasonable demand; it is a standard expectation for a safe and healthy community environment.

You are welcome to quote me, but trying to frame a zero-tolerance stance against bigotry as an overreach misinterprets the entire point of the discussion.

In a chat once, I quoted Magnus Carlsen verbatim and was timed out for 15 minutes.

"Turn off chat, problem fixed"

Sticking one's neck in the ground does NOT, as far as I know, make the problem go away.

Turning off chat is good as we see messages from strangers who we don't know about.So turning off chat keeps us safe and help us not to get distracted while playing.

@moveoftheyear

You're missing my point. There is a difference between solving a problem, and hiding a problem.

Do not chat on a chess site.
Do not play chess on a chat box.

Do not chat on a chess site. Do not play chess on a chat box.

For the record I do play in silence too, chat gibberish doesn't affect me, unless I really need to vent on something

"Do not chat on a chess site"

If a chess site would include a chat feature, one would expect it to be used, and therefore it should be moderated. Is telling people not to use the feature, really a solution?
