Same [question](https://lichess.org/forum/lichess-feedback/analysis-board-how-to-unfocus-keyboard-input-without-using-a-mouse#1) as last month; can't re-use the old thread unfortunately.
Things got worse with the recent change of hotkeys (including `m` for keyboard input). In the analysis board, the best way to go back to "normal" mode where shortcuts like `E` for the opening explorer are accepted was to press `<Shift>+<Tab>` 3 (!) times. A simple `Esc` should definitely suffice.
Good idea imo, I'll look into implementing this
