I am practicing Checkmate patterns but my engine takes insanely long to make a move, especially in Rook Endgames, it thinks for minutes without any moves, how can I fix it?

Ah that is very bad, you can use the board editor and set up the position and play against computer, that has the added advantage that you can try against several difficulties or even bots like Maja

Oh and another thing try 365chess.com it's got an amazing endgame trainer. You chose the pieces on the board and it gives you random positions from master games that you play against the computer it's really good.
