How does this can happen with Lichess rating system

I was playing a game with someone online and he ran out of time he was black me white so it black ran out of time draw and how come it is a draw and also he got 1 plus in rating i got -1 whats this i played with this guy

You cannot checkmate white with your lone king, hence a draw it is.

He knows that, tpr. @sayedizhaan You lost 1 rating point because you were higher rated and playing with white; drawing to a worse player means you lose rating.

And it's a draw because of time (black) and insufficient material (white).
