How To Turn Off Messages Quickly

Hello everyone!

I have a question about Lichess's private messaging settings, and I would also like to suggest a possible improvement.

Currently, there are three options for who can message you:

  • Everybody
  • Only existing conversations
  • Friends

My problem is that I have a lot of friends and existing conversations. If I want to completely stop receiving private messages, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do so without manually unfriending people and deleting existing conversations.

Going through all of these conversations individually can take a considerable amount of time, especially for users who have accumulated many conversations over the years.

I have two questions and a suggestion:

  1. Is there an easier solution? Is there currently a way to quickly disable all incoming private messages without having to unfriend people or delete conversations individually?

  2. Could Lichess add a new privacy option? I think it would be helpful to have a setting such as "Nobody" or "Disable All Messages" that prevents all incoming private messages, including messages from existing conversations, while allowing users to keep their friends list and conversation history.

  3. Could Lichess add an easier way to delete conversations? A "Delete All Conversations" button or the ability to select and delete multiple conversations at once would be very useful for users who want to clean up their inbox without deleting chats one by one.

Ideally, I would like to be able to turn off private messages whenever I want, without having to change my friends list or spend a long time deleting conversations.

I think these improvements would be useful for players who want to focus on chess without receiving private messages while keeping their existing friends and connections.

Thank you for reading! I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions for a current workaround.

You could turn on kid mode, although this would also disable game chat.

You could turn on [kid mode](https://lichess.org/account/kid), although this would also disable game chat.

Thanks for the suggestion! But I also like being able to chat in game like you mentioned and I also like being able to let people follow and message me when I choose.
