Missed notifications when a game starts on Android

Subject: Repeated game timeouts / missed notifications
Hello,
This is not the first time my account has been temporarily restricted because a game was considered abandoned. I understand that this is probably an automatic system and not something manually reviewed by a person.
I’m not asking for the restriction to be removed. I’m actually fine with staying away from the app for a few hours.
I’m contacting you because I would like to understand whether there might be a problem with my notifications or connection, or whether there is something I should change in my settings to prevent this from happening.
I never intentionally abandon games. What happens fairly often is that I lose connection, or I don’t hear/receive the notification that a new game has started. Since sometimes it takes a while for a game to begin, I may open another app on my phone while waiting. Then I come back and realize that the game has already started, sometimes without me noticing because I didn’t hear the notification.
There have also been very few occasions — probably no more than three or four — when I genuinely had to leave a game because something unexpected happened. In those cases, I told my opponent in the chat what had happened and gave them the win. For example, I might have had to answer the door or attend to something urgent. So I do understand the difference between intentionally abandoning a game and having an unexpected interruption.
Could you please let me know:
whether there is anything I should check or change in my Lichess notification settings;
whether this could be related to the phone, the app, or the connection;
and whether you recommend keeping the Lichess app open and not using other apps while waiting for a game?
I understand that Lichess cannot control what happens with notifications or connections on my phone, so I’m mainly trying to understand what I can do differently to avoid this happening again.
Thank you for your help!
