As I was playing a game today, my, like, 1344th game, I didn't understand that I was playing with a person who was new to Lichess, like, played 0 games, so it was his first game with me. So I lost to him, so he got plus 117 and in another game he lost to me and got - 423. I just don't know, but yeah, I know that this is normal for new players, but still, why do they get so much rating and lose so much

New players have a high rating deviation.
So they gain more rating from a win and lose more rating from a loss, so as to quickly adjust their rating to their true level.
