The little icon in the top-right corner of the king at the end of the game is so cute!
The developers are awesome!
I personally think that the little icon in the top-right corner of the king at the end of the game is not endearing at all. To me it feels like #chessdotcomisation.
That said, the developers are still awesome!

Some things may already exist on other sites, and some contributors would really like to see them on Lichess, so they make changes to Lichess’s code and ask for those changes to be implemented.
The lead developer (known as Thibault) reviews the requests, and if he likes one, he approves it.
Thibault doesn’t check what other sites are doing when deciding whether to reject or approve a request.

I can't understand

Wish there's a setting to disable it
Personally, I'd prefer that more universal glyphs were used (maybe + for a win and - for a loss) or that glyphs were not used.

It's just so awful and off-putting that the dev would decide that this thing does not deserve a toggle. Chessboard and its pieces, that's a basic experience someone should be able to have without this enshittification.

To be honest if anything I find the marks on the top of the king triggering.
For example if I lose a game on time and want to have a look at final position to evaluate it a big red icon screaming "YOU LOST" isn't really something I want to see when I can clearly see the result in the moves section.
On the other hand if I win I don't need a big green icon to tell me that since I'm also capable of telling that.
In general when evaluating any position the less clutter the better.
I know there's an option to remove it with uBlock since you can treat it as an ad although in general these can break with new UI implementations so it's definitely better to make it optional.
Alternatively it can be an April Fools feature where a win gets a big cheer and when you lose you can get something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_asNhzXq72w

I think the next step is anyway that if you lose on time, your king explodes on your screen lol
