Why are all my pieces white? See picture.

No matter what setting I put my pieces to when I play, all the pieces are black and white, all white, and it's driving me crazy. I've logged in, logged out, changed all the settings. It just won't stick and I think there's a bug in the program. 1000054079.jpg

It's the piece sets themselves that are corrupted. They're all white. See picture. I tried every permutation of the different themes, boards, and pieces. Everything comes out corrupt on my screen.

The solution was accept the change lichess did without complaining. Because they are the gods of what is right. Who cares about us humble players?

Dark mode in your browser = washed out pieced. But hey your news reader doesn't blind you?

Light mode in your browser = perfect pieced. Good luck trying to go to sleep.

The solution? have lichess realize they made a mistake. The reality? Wait. And use my work-around.

Last week, the piece assets were updated to "discourage" the weird colorization that chrome-based browsers began to apply last month. For most, this resolved the issue.

I'm not clear if Lichess changes had a role in triggering it, but I do know that browser updates themselves sometimes have bugs or new render paths that websites must adapt to.
