Hello!
I know people get mad when there's random "Join my team" spam. The rules say we shouldn't post them, but since there isn't a dedicated spot for it, people just end up doing it anyway or spamming people’s dm's.
We should make a specific forum or page for Teams to post Ad's and let people know they exist. I have closed 3 teams so far because no one knew they existed.
Here’s why it would actually make the site better:
Cleaner Forums: It gives moderators a place to move those "Join us" threads instead of just deleting them or letting them clog up the actual chess discussions.
Finding the right group: It’s actually kind of hard to find active teams for specific stuff (like study groups or certain variants) through the search bar. This would make it way easier.
Less DM Spam: If team leaders had a specific place to post, they’d probably stop spamming random people desperate for people to join
Obviously, we'd need some basic rules like "one thread per team" and "no constant bumping" to keep it from getting messy, but I think it would solve a big headache for both the mods and the users.
What do you guys think? Is this something that's been considered before?

I don’t belong to clubs. I’m just not much of a joiner. However, if I were, this seems to make good sense. Why not?

I think it would make sense to quarantine those threads, and I don't hate the idea of people sharing unique team ideas, but I think having such a forum would conflict with the ethos of lichess

@Cute_cupcake If people spam you in dms, just block them. Furtherly, when you WANT to join a team, go search for it.
