I think I've posted a few interviews of Eric Weinstein in the past. Based on the paucity of previous comments, my fear is that I may be the only person here who finds Eric's interviews fascinating. At any rate, here's a recent one that I liked even more than usual. The conversation meanders around and hits a number of topics including AI, physics and math, UFOs, world politics, and wars.

I'm not ...

about 1/4 into the interview he said we can hit the auto transcript generator and it will give us all the words of the interview. i’m going to try that, because, when you read, you can go faster and skip if you like.

i couldn’t generate the script. maybe a paid account has that feature?

At one point in the interview, Eric mentions that you might want to look up the David Grusch interview on the Joe Rogan podcast. So I did. There are two of them; I just watched the most recent one of three weeks ago (#2560). Holy crap, it's wild sh**. If there's ANY truth to what David is hinting at, things could get wild before the next US presidential election.

erik seems to know some things so it’s worth considering. hopefully i’ll find something i can read. also you were brave to post it, knowing yoiu would get flak for it

Maybe, but I wouldn't know. I don't have a YouTube account of any kind. :-)

Well, the UFO/UAP mess is certainly wild, but I think what scares me even more is how fast AI is becoming more productive than humans at almost every type of job. And it's not just software - Robots will soon also be coming for our jobs. At one point in the interview, Eric mentions Coasian economics as a possible solution to this problem, but he also states that nobody in governments or universities/think tanks is even thinking about solutions to this problem. And Eric isn't the only one worried about this issue; Many extremely smart people are expressing the same concerns.

Just a few days ago, Microsoft made an announcement that it was planning to make retirement buyout offers to up to 25% of its workers. A shot across the bow if I've ever seen one.

Not unless we could get every single country in the world to agree to not do any AI and not break its promise, and that's not going to happen. China alone is all-in on AI and robots and going full speed ahead. It's an economic and technical race to be first, and no country wants to be left out of the race. For example, what would happen if China had 30% GDP growth and the USA had none? Economic suicide.
