Yes, i hear this annoying cringy tone everywhere thesedays, it comes across as if the person using it is constantly trying to be as weak as possible while speaking, as if they're appologising for speaking atall in fact, (in case someone gets offended by their true tone of voice) , it seems to me.
Then there's the up- speak tone where everything they say sounds like a question, it sounds so insecure that it also makes me cringe hearing it.
It would be so refreshing to have a conversation with someone who doesn't speak in this appologetic way.
Thoughts. :)

Well it's the sort of tone that you know when you hear it, i wouldn't put examples up because that would make it seem like a personal attack on an individual, and that's not what i'm trying to do. :)

Yeah absolutely ;)
I’m convinced that up-talking is, well, pure evil. Just kidding folks! It is pretty close to it though.

About 10, 15 years ago, I remember a talk at a conference where the speaker emphasized that academics use very narrow framework and shy away from making any kind of sweeping statements... Which is basically the same thing as this, right - a sort of shying away from strong statements and being completely diplomatic to a fault.
It's also done for the same sort of reason... moral cowardice. Nobody wants to make statements that offend anyone or that can be challenged, and so everyone sits around saying very little in a lot of words because that is the safest way to interact with anyone.
It can be frustrating.
I try to do my share by saying controversial things. I l like to say that the only things worth saying are controversial. Anything that is commonly accepted does not have to be repeated.

Yes, it's a fine balance i agree, this thread for example is highlighting something that isn't going to change the world obviously :D, but i put it out there anyway, not to attack anyone but to simply address something I've noticed. :)
