It's all about balance, if you pick a career that you really enjoy but is bad paying, you might end up living miserably, because you have no money, and constantly worry about bills all the time, if you pick a career you don't like, but is high paying, you can maybe even retire early to pursue your passion, or use the money to enjoy life.
