In my opinion, individual rivalry between players is not a great thing for football. Both decided for what their coaches must do, especially in national team. Both players never credited much their teammates for theirs success. But Messi without Iniesta, Suarez, Puyol, and others, would pro never have been able to become the Messi we know. The same goes for Ronaldo : Pepe, Benzema, Bale, Modric, Ramos. Yes they scored sometime 40, 50 goals per season. But behind almost each goals, there is the action and the teamwork behind. And even though they're great passers/assist makers, they aren't collective players such as Iniesta, Fabregas, Griezman, Kanté, Marcelo, Pjanic and others.
So, for me, the best player of their generation is Iniesta. In term of palmares and qualities. In second goes Sergio Ramos. One of the best CB of his generation.

I feel sorry for Ronaldo.I think his life is sad.He is a soccer player. He will never be seen as a smart intellectual person. He made a lot of money. His relatives, his friends, everyone araund him must be tyring to get some of his money.Thats also sad.

I think Ronaldo was the best striker in the World.Messi was the best all round player in the world.Ronaldo was very good in finishing,Messi was just able to do anything,I dont think iniesta was in both their level.Iniesta couldnt really be anything else than a midfielder.50 goals is insane. Both Ronaldo and Messi seperate from others. They were not only very good players. They were magnificent players the soccer world never seen antying like them before.Except Maybe Maradona,

There is a common adage in football : a player might score 4, 5, or even 6 goals, but the opposing team could still manage to put 7 or 8 goals and win.
The purpose in football is not only to score the most goals. There is 0-0 draws and penalties. The forward is not the focal point of the game. A forward is a craftsman serving the game and concretizing the actions made by her/his teammates, as their primary requirement is efficiency.
An ugly goal scored by a forward is forgiven, where an amazing dribble that fails to end in a goal is viewed with critics.
A midfielder must coordinate the play and take more initiative, since they create more opportunities on both defensive and offensive plans. Midfielders, I'm particularly thinking defensive or central mid. face a wider range of decision-making. It isn't about scoring 50 goals. I believe Iniesta's record season was like 10 goals and 15 assists. But. We must remember that an "assist" is defined as the final pass leading to a goal. A scoring action may be built upon several preceding passes, yet if the player who initiated the attacking move is not the one delivering the final pass to the scorer, they receive no statistical credit.
Look at Pavard's goal in 2018. France is in a possession moment, the ball is at the defense, moving to Varane-Kanté-Lloris. Then, Kanté launch Matuidi. Matuidi initiate the attacking action by a through ball to Hernandez, center, and then Pavard for the Volley goal. Or, only Hernandez is credited for the decisive pass, when all the action came from Matuidi-Kanté.
So, it's evident that football is more than just statistics. If a team relies entirely on a single forward who scores half the season's goals, the team is highly likely to become dependent on the forward, with results suffering significantly if that player leave. A team having three or four excellent forwards, each scoring at least a dozen goals per season in League, is far more competitive and consistent.
