Driving: Any tips, tricks, past experiences?

I am about to take my driving test. Do any of y'all have any experiences or input on what I need to do to pass the test to earn my learner's permit?

Just don't collide with anything. Bonus points if you also don't do things that make you get yelled at by other drivers wondering what the heck you're doing. These are the two main rules of driving. Oh, and on a serious note, stay focused; driving is dangerous.

Exhibit alertness, scan both ways before crossing a street. Maintain a proper following distance. Obey all traffic signs.

Alternatively you could exhibit your drifting skills, crank up highway to hell on your stereo and ask your examiner if he wants a toke.

I recommend scenario #1

You must press the magic lever on the cart's floor and take in your hands the wheel located on the middle of the board, and move it from left to right, very gently : this allows the magic horses inside the box of the cart to drive the other wheels. Of course, the first step is to take the relic key so that the machine's spirit awakens.

I don't know yet how to master the iron cart, but King Arthur tried with a certain success. But only Tim the Enchanter knows the spells to drive!

It's not the driving test that's the real challenge.

The real challenge is not becoming over-confident over the next two years, as many seem to do.

It takes years to become a genuinely good driver. Unfortunately, it starts to feel easy pretty quickly, and it's easy to start fancying oneself a master of the machine.

But over-confidence can lead to too little caution.

A truly good driver is a safe driver not a fast driver.

Maybe things have changed for the better, but when I first got my license, years ago, too many teens were still doing foolish things behind the wheel, fueled by a youthful lack of caution and lack of appreciation for the risk and responsibility.

A few days ago, I was passed on the highway by a motorcycle weaving lane to lane and flashing at extreme speed past cars driving the speed limit. I assume the driver thought he was displaying skill. But he was actually displaying stupidity and a lack of consideration for others.

That's not being a master of the machine. That's displaying a poor grasp of reality.

I wish you well, and hope that you will display, long term, a better grasp of reality than that foolish motorcyclist. Since you seem to be asking for good advice, it looks like you could turn out to be a genuinely good driver.

If so, thanks.
