Favourite childhood superhero

Early on, it was the original Superman TV show with George Reeves, because all we had at the time was TV.

I used to run around in my coat with only the hood on (so it was like a cape). :)

#1: Batman. The way that he turns his tragedy of losing his parents into opportunity and success in preventing others from suffering such a fate has always inspired me. His dedication---even when faced with pain, sleep deprivation, and loss after loss---shows that there are things worth risking your health and life for.

Batman is awesome; an ultra-rich playboy who, rather than seeing a therapist, uses his childhood trauma as an excuse to batter mentally ill people to a pulp.

Um... The mentally ill people are terrorists, you usually have to use force to stop them. Would you rather he just leaves them be?

He doesn't use guns because he thinks it's more ethical to cripple people with his hands.

Would you rather him use guns? Cause I think he should, he just let's the terrorists live. They go to jail/prison, escape, and then proceed to endanger the public again. If he just kills the terrorists then he's done with them on a individual basics at least, but it's mostly for kids. So I can see why they wanted to make him not kill them, but I still think they should have.

His butler then washes his victim's blood stains out of his tights whilst he goes out to party and drink champagne. And after convalescing in Arkham Asylum, escapees are once again terrorised with the Bat Signal that tells them the caped crusader will soon be savagely stamping on their freshly healed spinal column,

You don't want him to stop the terrorists? Do you not think they should be in fear of being punished if they do evil acts?

wwhilst the police ignore their screams for mercy.

You act like they walked out of prison, seen the bat signal, and batman proceeds to drop out of the sky and beat the $h!t out of them as cops stand by as it happens...

You have one weird take on batman, I don't agree with everything he does, but you seem more concerned with how the criminas are stopped, then being happy they are stopped.
If you said he's going beyond the law, or, he's violating their rights. Or something like that, I'd say sure. You got a point. But you like I said, just seem to be a terrorist sympathizer. I'm not saying you are, but your comments come of that way.

Oh. And my childhood hero, was Jesus.

I know it probably doesn't apply to Batman @JesusIsSalvation but given that I never watched or read the comics, I just went to say that generally this statement is false. Mental illnesses include (major/persistent) depression, ADHD, autism, and many others that do not cause harm (heck, even bipolar, schizophrenia, DID, etc. are different in reality compared to cinema). The chances of someone hurting themselves is much greater than being a terrorist.

Again, if that's not what you meant, then I apologize for this! I just had an urge to clarify.

Thanks, in case my words are taken to mean something else. I'll clarify,

I said "the mental ill people are terrorists" because @BrokenJester said
"Batman is awesome; an ultra-rich playboy who, rather than seeing a therapist, uses his childhood trauma as an excuse to batter mentally ill people to a pulp"

When I said "the" mentally ill people, that is referring the mentally ill people @BrokenJester is saying batman is battering.

So if batman beats up mentally ill people who are not comitting terrorists acts, sorry for my ignorance. I take it back, I'm not a batman expert. Sorry.
