Threads need to provide a DISCUSSION; therefore its name: off-topic DISCUSSION.

It's not a debate classroom, it's a real discussion that everyone can participate towards the subject. An interesting topic = a more interesting discussion.

A better definition of a good thread:

A Good Thread - "A thread that is high-quality and the original poster clearly put effort into making the thread. Also, it should provide a real discussion that everyone can join. A real discussion is when a group of people talk about a certain subject with interest; with high-quality comments."
