Family names are cool traditionally to honor your parents, really quite a compliment to those who brought you into the world.
Trendy names? It's your child, kinda falls in the category of common names with an alternative spelling,if you name your baby girl Sinthia well enjoy her teenage years...
Some names do sound well. Veronica is cool sounding to me and has an interesting etymology. Zoe is an example, greek, alive and vital as opposed to simply existing.
It's kinda cool ( well to me) the persistence of names across the millennia, i like etymology in general.
I'm sure many names in other cultures pay homage to their cultural icons so tell me the meaning of the name in your culture .
My middle name is Welsh, comes from the latin for red headed,my dads nickname was Red,lol. My mom was Sicilian so my hair is black with red highlights.
I guess it's an old family name, Ruffin to be exact.
