Kindred Spirits.

Internet Chess Players.

In some sense, likely not in all senses, we are all kindred spirits.

How so?

I'm not sure that I can set forth, right now, the perfect wording to explain it.

But I feel this: young, old, tall, short, from the south or from the north, from the west or from the east, we have something in common.

What is that commonality?

The stage is set. The stage lights are on. Can you step into the light and describe it?

Will it take some time to figure it out? To put it into words? That's understandable, if so.

I hope you can do your best, for the benefit of all. Eventually.

Or perhaps this thread will die, quietly. That would be okay, too.

It takes both effort and courage to craft a useful response, and the reward for putting forth the effort is slim, if it exists at all. But perhaps somebody has pondered what brings internet chess players together, and will brave a response. After all, there must be a reason for the success of Lichess. It's filling some need. It is consonant with some reality.

The idea has at least been raised. Even if it goes unremarked.

In the meantime, football remains interesting.

We users needed a robust chess website and thibault created it.

I think half or better consider themselves improvers and there are excellent tools here.
