I am watching a video about climbing Annapurna, the 8000m mountain with the highest rate of fatalities among climbers. Its beautiful and stark. So powerful the forces of nature. Before they have reached even Camp 1 and looking down, it seems unfathomable.
I used to climb some of the higher mountains in the Appalachians of USA. I was never built for this scale of expedition.
I saw some books on Amazon about climbing this mountain. I may have to purchase one.

I paused after they reached camp 1. Base camp to camp 1 is 5.3 km with elevation gain of about 1000m which they completed under 7 hours. Camp 1 is at elevation of 5150m.

Yeah, I don't mind watching others make the climb, as long as I don't have to join in. I've never done that kind of insane stuff. The closest I ever got was when I was younger and made a summer day hike from about 6100 ft elevation to 9600 ft elevation. That was hard enough for me.

Annapurna only has a 13.42% death rate for climbers. Piece of cake...
