Nobody wants to learn to play chess.

If a player has a rating of 2300, he says that he knows everything, can do everything, plays only for fun and pleasure.

If a player has a rating of 1700, he says that he knows everything, can do everything, plays only for fun and pleasure.

If a player has a rating of 900, he says that he knows everything, can do everything, plays only for fun and pleasure.

I don't understand.

I didnt understand also.Maybe people think they dont need to learn anymore but a 900 player should be aware he has a lot more to learn.So does a 1700 player.

The more I learn the more I am humbled by the vastness of what I don't know.

I think a key to improvement is realizing the players just above your level are actually pretty weak. If you think a 2000 player is a god you won't reach 2000, you have to realize, 'oh these guys actually have huge holes in their games'.

I'm supposed to be an 1800 elo classical player
(although i doubt it) , and think i know hardly anything about Chess, and will admit it to anyone who's interested enough to know.
Most other Chess players I've ever spoken to usually are very humble about their Chess ability and keep trying hard to improve, I've never heard anyone boasting that they think they're brilliant, even if they are. :)

ayyy some of them actually share interesting games with interesting sacrifices and moves. and like, some probably accept that they don't know everything and aren't like super brilliant, but when they play good games, I think it's okay to share it with the community (unless ofcourse, they get offended and behave childishly when someone gives constructive criticism or something).
