Interesting list, ranking are always debatable so here's my contribution.
If've seen one third of a movie by Kurosawa, another by Godard. Kurosawa seemed much better to me.
Edit: spelled "Kurosawa" properly.

Yeah, he's a director I personally admire, more than one I connect with. Still, he'd probably be only one slot above Godard if I were forced to use him.
Just my opinion.

Just my opinion.
- Rainer Werner Fassbinder (Angst essen Seele auf, Berlin Alexanderplatz)
- Ethan and Joel Coen (The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men)
- Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Léon)
Until recently, I considered Luc Besson an absolutely outstanding director - but unfortunately, even he produced absolute rubbish with his 2023 film Dogman.

Satyajit Ray used to make B&W films, I agree his films were nice and he was like the no.1 in India back then but like he shouldn't be no.1 now. But its your opinion I'm just stating mine.
Ig Christopher Nolan should be no.1 for me, I don't really know directors but him detonating a real bomb (not a nuclear warhead) for Oppenheimer was class.

Should Ray ever be considered above Hitchcock or Kurosawa? Probably not, no. But faulting him for making black and white movies doesn’t make sense. Nights of Cabiria is not an inferior film to Transformers: Last Knight, even if Michael Bay is arguably the best SFX guy ever.
Nolan is a good director, but has a tendency to fall into the traps of Michael Bay style over-actioning and Shyamalan “look at this convoluted plot twist”-ing.
@RAybonto
I find your lack of Kurosawa, Cocteau, Huston, Ford, and Leone odd.
