So today i underwent retinal reattachment surgery and i guess it went well but for the nonce I'm half blind,at least I've got one good eye which seems to be healthy....
It's not a fun surgery ( are they ever,)?
But anyway it does have me wondering about blindfold chess. I love playing though that's not really a skill i have,i can visualize maybe 6 moves and then i get lost. Maybe this should be in GCD but my friends are here. ;)
Anyway do any of you guys play blindfold? Any tips?
I'll probably be fine but looking into a dark future is definitely frightening and once you've lost half your vision the prospect of losing the rest is terrifying, really, the prospect of the consepectualisation of such a scenario makes me tremble.
Dont mean to depress you
I will persevere
Looking 《to the future) ???
Lol
Does anyone play blindfold chess ?
And how should i proceed ???
To develop that skill
Don't mind me
I'm just frightened...

we’re here for you.
call the doctor’s office and see what they have to say. if you can’t reach them, call another doctor office just to see what they say.

If you don't mind me asking, could you share what caused your retinal detachment? I'm asking because I'm highly myopic myself, and I've heard that it increases the risk of retinal detachment. I'd appreciate hearing about your experience, but of course, only if you're comfortable sharing. Wishing you a smooth recovery!

Dukedog,
When you mentioned blindfold I thought about when I tried it before. I could not do it. I do plan to read up on it.
And from some interviews I've watched I think there are memory tricks for blindfold.

@GammaRay-Burst
In my case apparently just age though it's frequently induced by head trauma. My other eye is fine.
So i had the surgery, apparently my retina had many tears, they said they repaired them all..
1st day home,completely blurred vision
2nd day beginning to resolve shapes and patterns
3rd day i see somewhat but the vision still isn't sharp but it seems to be improving slowly though mostly blurred and dim but with somewhat betteresolution. every day.
Followup the 27th to see how I'm doing.15% chance I'll need further surgery
I really hope not.
In your case I'd recommend regular examination.
I felt fine the
n one day an explosion of floaters and flashes of light followed by obscured vision.
Perhaps you might considet a eye vitamin supplement such as A- reds.
If you're concerned
Consultation with an ophthalmologist is recommended.
Myself it just struck out of the blue with no prior indicators.
Good luck my friend
Regular checkups if you're concerned...
