It was public and is readily available information, when we're having a discussion about this sort of thing you could easily google it you know.

We're not talking about the speculative merit of these legal violations...
it's 100% unquestionably in violation of federal law on two grounds:
If he socilited with China, your president will be Xi Jinping. China has 1.4 billion people to make a vote.
Or, "not discriminating or provacating" is now the synonym of "sociliting" in US English?

and despite all that, it was the most democratic nation of the time and since ancient greece more or less.
Athenian democracy was also as unequal and was plagued by corruption, also with marriages between political families. there was certainly a majority of ideas which were ahead of the time, but we must not forget that neither Athenian democracy, nor American democracy were perfect and egalitarian at the beginning.
the only difference is that American democracy has managed to become more egalitarian, after decades of political, human and cultural fights.
it simply wasn't the same standard for defining democracy in George Washington's time as it is now

The video was in 2019... I can understand why he would want them to investigate the Bidens... I'm very sure this was Trump hinting that he was/is the better candidate (which he obviously is imo, hasn't butchered sentences like Biden or Harris).
On top of that, the Democrats, whether in power or not, have tried to investigate Trump numerous times... To thus influence an election? The Mar-a-Lago raid, the W mugshot from Fulton County, the sham trials, the list could keep going...
Agree to disagree, they both broke the law (Trump did from your perspective, the Democrats did from mine)

"Agree to disagree." Yes, the first step in finding some agreement. Thank you, @KDMFan -- that moves most of us toward reconciliation.
The next step, I suspect, is to for all to agree on the definitions of "autocracy" and "checks and balances." And then see how one prevents the other. Then perhaps we can take comfort in this: only one of those appears to be an established, currently secure part of America's legal system.
So, hyperventilation will likely not prove necessary. Furthermore, hyperventilation doesn't seem to sell politically, despite the hopes of some. The world is not coming to an end. Most people are quite fair and sensible.
Yes, yes, before some others (yet not @KDMFan , I suspect) try to imperiously scold me, I KNOW that "America" is a "continent." But America is also in common use to mean "The United States of America." Context is helpful to consider, when reading.

Investigating a potential crime domestically using domestic resources is not a crime, unless you can provide a law stating otherwise - as I can provide the exact law saying that asking a foreign country to investigate your political rival on your behalf is illegal.
"From 1973 until he was elected president in 2016, Donald Trump and his businesses were involved in over 4,000 legal cases in United States federal and state courts, including battles with casino patrons, million-dollar real estate lawsuits, personal defamation lawsuits, and over 100 business tax disputes."
So really, the rate of which he's picked up lawsuits in office is nothing special - he's been sued almost more times than anyone on the planet before he even was in office

Unfortunately not, because that might still be bearable.
On January 20, Trump will be crowned King of the USA. And the term of office of kings only ends with their death and then the heir to the throne comes from the family.

@Black-Swan-22 You do understand how democracy works don’t you?
Vote A or B.
Nobody had a gun held to their head and made them vote a certain way.
They didn’t vote the way you spammed Lichess with, but hey, that’s democracy, even if you don’t grasp how it works.
