Backgammon. An excellent game. There was a period of time in America when it was the height of current fashion.
I'd love to see the game come back big time.
Started at around 8 yrs old, but strictly speaking at 10. When I was 8 I thought to win you had to capture the king, and so at 10 was when I actually learned to play properly.

A few times, it finally set down roots when I watched Searching for Bobby Fischer.
我是在《哈利波特》中第一次看到国际象棋的,那时候我才上小学三年级,现在我已经初中了

This movie was free on the yt app a few days ago, I started watching it again. The cast was very good. Nice production call for Max Pomeranc to do the narration parts about Fischer.
Whenever I get too big for my britches, friends tell me: go play some Go.
The experience is always humbling.
A long time ago I asked a wise old man what I should try and he said Go, so off I went. This was years ago, sometimes it was fun, sometimes not so much but one thing is for sure, I don't have the faintest idea where the hell I am now.
Wherever you went, @The_Merry_Chesster , there you are!
And we're happy that you type into this forum, from there.
I think I was in 4th or 5th grade. I was over at my friends house and he taught me. I first learned how to play there but kinda forgot for a couple after that. Then my dad wanted to play, so he retaught me the rules, and let me win*. And I've been playing ever since.
*Don't worry, he didn't, that's just for people that like happy endings
