In terms of wear and tear on the liver, I’d be more concerned about eating too much protein. At the end of the day, your body must synthesize its own from scratch; so the popular notion that we “need” to consume lots of it — even to the point of supplementing our diet with unnaturally concentrated, highly processed extracts — is a straight-up myth peddled by salesmen. ;-( And the carnivore diet? That’ll wreck your liver for sure. We didn’t evolve to eat only meat, else we’d have fangs instead of molars. (Selah.)

Now, is my saying this going to stop you from ever eating meat again? . . . Of course not. ^_^ You’d be giving me too much credit, and yourself too little. I simply reiterate that moderation is key. Consuming tons of anything is inadvisable: in sufficient quantities, even water could kill you — perhaps you might literally drown in it, or lose too many electrolytes, flushing out nutrients before you can absorb them — so just take it easy, OK? :-)
A balanced diet — a smidgeon of this, a smattering of that, and a smear of the other — is surely the most sensible way to proceed through life. Extremes, whether of indulgence or abstinence, should generally be avoided, lest you ingest too much of one thing, and neglect a panoply of others.
To go beyond the bounds of moderation is to outrage humanity. The greatness of the human soul is shown by knowing how to keep within proper bounds.
