Your talking abaut the weather. What do you expect from them?
That was just an example to highlight the point, although i would certainly expect an in-depth discussion on meteorological matters everytime. :D

I despise the use of uh when someone is speaking,i mean every 4th utterance is uh. Please form your thought before opening your mouth. Along the same line is the pause before expressing ideas,as if everything was deep and poignant which it never is.
Then of course " do you know what i mean "? can be annoying.
The rising inflection at the end of a sentence turning a statement into a question, shades of valley girl.
Using vulgarity as an intensifier gets old quickly.
Probably the habit i hate worse and i call people on it is when someone interupts you midsentence as if they're not even listening and what they have to say is so darn important. Sometimes i just return the favor and do the same to them which they think is rude lol.

I have no interest in any topic title that begins: "So ............"

like, you might tell them that their ass is on fire, and they'll reply "YEAH DEFINITELY! "
Wait that's what they said? I just said "thanks" because I thought they said your ass is fire! No wonder so many people were saying that--it certainly explains the burning sensation!

Wait *that's* what they said? I just said "thanks" because I thought they said your ass *is* fire! No wonder so many people were saying that--it certainly explains the burning sensation!
A pet peeves thread.
There can never be enough of those.
I have two such pets. Perhaps others can guess what they are. Let me illustrate, as I have before. Can the reader guess each peeve?
-
Uhm, like, can you guess what seems to be, like, you know, my, uh, first pet peeve? Hint: it's, you know, like, not just a single, particular word or, uhm, phrase. No its, uhm, like, a particular verbal habit that, uhm, seems to have shown up, uh, years ago but, you know, still continues.
-
The second pet peeve IS a single phrase. Some say "on accident." Shudder.
Things can happy BY accident -- in other words, "by virtue of an accident."
But accidents are not stools or pedestals -- things do not appear "on" an accident.
And yet the trend to say "on" accident has spread worldwide, and it never tells me good things about the utterer. Please, readers, read as much of Churchill's work as you can. English is a rapier, not a whoopie cushion.
ANSWERS (don't look until you've selected your own):
-
mindless interjections that do nothing but stall or attempt to solicit comforting agreement. "Like" is the worst. But "uhm" or "you know" are nearly as bad. At least "uh" can sound somewhat more naturally confused, but it's not lovely.
-
Uh, like, uhm, I already gave the answer above, you know? I wish people would stop saying "on accident." It's like listening to fingernails on black boards. Yeah, I know, "Like, what is a, you know, black board?"

The mindless interuptions while someone is speaking is very annoying,
to me it implies that the person who is doing the interupting think's that their opinion and thoughts are far more valid and interesting and feel the need
to let others know it ,
many people are just waiting to speak and not actually listening.:)

Another thing i find annoying is when something you have just said to a group of people is not acknowledged in any way, yet the group all sound their opinions and they all acknowledge each others points, i see this as herd mentality, where they all seem to "Moo" One another in their special cattle language that outsiders don't understand. :D

Cutting someone in the middle of their speech is bad.I think its a more power thing.Whoever gets respected in the group doesnt usally get cut when they are talking. Also some people develop a habit of cutting others speeches. They do it to everyone all the time.
