Resigning games too quickly will result in a temporary ban.

i lost a piece in a scandinavian defense in the opening, against a 1900 rated opponent, and i cannot resign at move 9
Sigh... So, for 147th time in last few days: of course you can resign. You just received a warning that if it happens too often, it could be seen as something else than "consistent bad luck".

Yes,i get what you are saying, it is just a warning .The problem (if you want to try and understand) is that warning is annoying, it is like rubbing salt in the wound of playing a bad opening.Someone loses badly and then also gets called a sandbager by lichess.Surely you can see why some people would find that annoying.

I got this message today for the first time. The first time I've seen it for either me or my opponent.

I'm guilty of this sometimes resigning early after losing a piece in the opening. I have many times come back from being down a queen, rook or bishop in the opening to win a game.

But sometimes I'm not in the mood to play when I'm down a piece.

Ideally one should play to either checkmate or running out of time, but forcing someone to do this probably will never happen.

Someday I hope to play every game until checkmate. I think it's the true warrior spirit and something should be said for not giving up. But I don't see myself wanting to do this anytime soon. A lot of the time there's just very annoying positions I don't feel like playing.

I don't really have anything to add here, just a few thoughts.
