I feel like there should be an option to take back your decision to berserk if your opponent does not berserk back. Since you're not getting points for berserking once you take back, I feel this is fair too.

If you wnt to berserk only symmetrically, then why don't you just play tournaments with a shorter time control?

It need not be time control dependent. I might berserk 30s tournys also if i want to gain +3 or +5 points, but i can choose to revert back my berserk

But a Berserk gives more points specifically for the reason you give an advantage to your opponent.

Right. He wants more points without the risk. Therefore everyone would berserk with this suggestion.

I think the extra points should be denied if both sides go berserk. At that point, you're not doing anything extraordinary.

This. The only thing it does is giving both players a competitive advantage because they get more games in the same time without lowering their expected result.

Its not more points without the risk. I would get the extra points only if I berserk in the game and I can choose to berserk even if opponent doesnt. All I said is that we can also have an option to take back your decision to berserk at which point you will not get extra points.
But I understand the others points as well...like it can incentivize everyone to berserk and just take back if opponent doesnt, but I feel that would still be exciting esp in lower time formats

I think we also need another option to take back going berserk if the opponent goes berserk, just to watch the world burn. :-D
