Also it is truly interesting that it’s in Japan as there isn’t even a single grandmaster in Japan which shows that the country is t very good at chess.
Maybe perhaps as a way to promote chess in Japan?

Yes of course, but having an open with some top male GMs would be even better promotion. Is it a cost issue?
